After beginning construction in October 2008, the new Union Baseball/Softball complex was completed and opened in January 2010.

The $5.5 million project was built with bond funds approved by voters in 2006, 2008, and 2009. It is a 26,010 square-foot-complex featuring a building that houses locker rooms for baseball and softball, a weight room, coaches’ offices, restrooms, ticket booth, a training room, and storage and boasts a 130’ x 130’ bay space that includes artificial turf and six batting cages that raise and lower, making the space suitable for both infield and hitting practice. The project also included improvements to the existing complex driveways, improved handicap accessibility, and plaza/sidewalk pedestrian paths. One hundred, 3-gallon trees were donated and recently planted by “Up With Trees” further improving the aesthetics of the baseball/softball complex as well as softening the lighting for the nearby neighborhoods.

The new facility is located on the existing baseball/softball complex just west of the Intermediate High School at 76th and Garnett Road. Previously, the campus had three fields. With the completion of this project, there are a total of four lit fields: two for baseball, one for fast-pitch softball, and one for slow pitch softball.
